August 20, 2007 – Received confirmation from the clinic has found a match (wait time was 2 months, 1 week, and 2 days). Start BCP.

September 30, 2007– Take last BCP. Continue Lupron.

October 2, 2007– Assumed date of period starting. Call clinic to confirm. Continue Lupron. Updated: Did call with CD1 as the bleeding has progressively worsened.

October 3, 2007– Reduce Lupron from 10U to 5U, daily. Start Estrace beginning with 2 pills for the next three days.

October 6, 2007– 5U Lupron plus 3 Estrace pills for the next three days.

October 9, 2007– 5U Lupron plus 4 Estrace pills indefinitely.

November 5, 2007– Transfer. Four eggs. Three fertilized normally within 24 hours. Fourth egg fertilized after that. Transferred best three. Froze fourth.

November 5, 2007– Increase PIO to 1 1/2 cc per day. P4 came back at 19.

November 11, 2007 – Positive home pregnancy test in the afternoon. Line faint, but showed up quickly.

  • * Symptoms** – lots of cramping starting on the12th, the kind that feel like PMS cramping. No spotting. Breasts just a bit sore after starting PIO but nothing progressive.

November 15, 2007 – Tentative beta (Oh, fuck! Notice the day?). Beta result was 122. Progesterone and Estrogen not tested. 10dp3dt.

  • * Symptoms ** – acute onset of hunger and seemingly heightened sense of smell (which all may have been pschosymptomatic since I knew I was pregnant).

November 16, 2007 – Day 1 of the rest of my New Life.

November 17, 2007– Second beta: 217. Did not get details on progesterone or estrogen but nurse said levels were good. 12dp3dt.

  • * Symptoms ** – nothing new. Cramping still but with much less frequency and intensity. I can smell a cheerio at 10 paces.

November 23, 2007– 3rd beta: 3590. 18dp3dt.

November 29, 2007 – First ultrasound 6w. One gestational sac with embryonic yolk and heartbeat. E2 – 712, p4 – 56, Beta – 23,708. GA5w6d.

6wkus.jpg

** Symptoms ** – hungry early and often. Fall-asleep-at-my-desk exhaustion by 2:00 p.m., but get a second wind about 6:00 p.m.

** Symptoms ** – early symptoms such as hunger, exhaustion and breast tenderness are diminishing (eta 12/4/07).

December 6, 2007 – 7w. Called for a scan due to concern over lack of symptoms. Scan showed appropriate size of gestational sac and heartbeat.

7wkus.jpg

December 13, 2007 – Third ultrasound. 1.54cm embryo (8w GA). Heard heart beat. P4 – 38 and Beta – 188,499

8wkus.jpg

** Symptoms ** – nothing notable new, which causes me continuous stress and worry. Some moments I have a bit of cramping; I got back the feeling of intense hunger. I feel worse in the evenings.

December 27, 2007– Fourth ultrasound. Embryo has graduated to fetus and is 3.17cm long, measuring a GA of 10w1d. p4 – 58, E2 – 2515, and Beta – 198,126. Heartrate was 171.

** Symptoms ** – Officially bloated comfortably out of some pants. Gained approximately 4-5 pounds since the beginning of the donor cycle treatment.

** Symptoms **– Noticed on 1/4/08 that bloating has reduced and am fitting into pants again. I have lost a couple of pounds. I don’t feel pregnant anymore. Back to square 1. Still haven’t been able to pick up a heart beat on the doppler.

January 8, 2008 – 1st Obstetric appointment. Heartbeat found by OB with Doppler.

January 11, 2008– “Ultra” Scan (NT), 12w1d. Nuchal Translucency of less than 1.0mm. Less than 2.8 is low risk. Blood work pending.

12w-011108.jpg

January 22, 2008– 2nd OB appointment. Heartbeat found through doppler. OB noted that my uterus was “bumping” a bit. The rest of what’s showing is still hormonal bloat.

** Symptoms **– Am not feeling as exhausted, but am still in bed by 9 on most nights. Ass-mouth is lessening, but is stronger after certain foods. Haven’t been able to button up any regular pants for a while. Abdomen is getting harder and my body feels “heavier” in the center. Found the heartbeat last night with home doppler, but it took a while. Noted at 14weeks.

** Symptoms **– At the end of the day, I’m terribly bloated in the abdomen. I suspect it’s constipation, but it makes me feel as if someone strapped a brick to my belly button. I’m still gaggy in the mornings if I don’t eat something, but I can go a little later in the morning before I get desperate. Some nights I can get the doppler right on the money, other nights (like last night), I lay there forever before finding Murdock. Noted at 15w4d.

February 5, 2008– OB appointment. 15w5d and have gained 3 pounds since my first appt with the OB about a month ago. OB notices that my uterus has grown and that it appears to be on target. I haven’t had an ultrasound since my 12w NT. I will try to wait 4 weeks for my next appointment, which should be for the anatomy scan. We will not be finding out the sex of the baby. Have been a little nervous lately about the heart rate and wondering if slow, but since I haven’t timed it, it’s all in my head for now.

** Symptoms **– Looking “pudgy” enough to confuse those around me so they don’t ask. The doppler is becoming more my friend, but our relationship has not quite solidified. Still haven’t felt any movement, which is a little disconcerting since all of the internet says I should feel it sooner with a second baby. Liars. Almost puked this morning. Last night’s craving? Salad with oil and vinegar – mainly vinegar. Also, I am overheated, especially at work. Noted at 17w6d.

** Symptoms **– I finally had to move my hook closure on my bra to the outside, otherwise I’ve been wearing my pre-pregnancy bras. Either I’m wearing the wrong size normally or my boobs were slower than most in growing. Still very flushed at times. I think I am feeling movement that cannot be accounted for my very slowly working bowels, but I’m not sure. I also still have the appearance of someone suffering from an extreme case of PMS. Noted at 19w.

March 4, 2008– 20w OB appointment and anatomy scan. Murdock measured on target for gestational age. All organs appear to be present and accounted for. The tech confirmed that my placenta was anterior, which would account for why I’ve noticed no movement. Mr. DD sat in the waiting room with me for almost an hour before we were called back, bless his impatient soul. We brought home pictures and about four minutes of video to show XBoy.

us3408facearm.jpg

  • * Symptoms** Coincidentally, the day before the US, and the afternoon following, I’ve started feeling the “bubbles” of movement from Murdock, especially after a meal. While exciting, they really do just feel like gas bubbles in the intestines, except the intestines have been squished out of the space. Noted 19w6d.

** Symptoms **I’m getting better at recognizing Murdock’s movements. They feel more like something rolling, not kicking or punching. My hips hurt now after laying on my side for so long. I think it’s because they are moving slightly out and new pressure points are being affected. No unusual cravings noted except I have enjoyed quite a few raw carrots over the past week or two. The bellaband has been retired for now but many of the maternity tops I do have now seem outrageously large, so I make due with the current trend of empire tops from the juniors department. Noted 21w4d.

  • * Symptoms ** It’s official: hemorrhoids have arrived. In the morning I feel really good but by evening, it feels as if I’m literally carrying the weight of the world around my belt. My back has been getting some tweaks in it. I’m easily winded. After a meal, I feel as if a ripe watermelon must feel – about to split in half. There’s just not a lot of room.

April 2, 2008 – 24w OB appointment. I’ve gained 12lbs overall and my BP is “great”. I did ask for an iron screen and it was a little low so I’ve been prescribed iron supplements. Growth appears to be appropriate even though he didn’t actually measure me. The stitch in my side shouldn’t be something to worry about. We discussed possible C-section dates for July. Was sent home with the glucose screening juice. My OB is thrilled with my progress.

  • * Symptoms **  – Hips are really starting to ache after sleeping on them, even though I’m a side sleeper. There are times when I haven’t noticed any movement from Murdock for up to a couple of hours. Even today after realizing that and eating/drinking something, I made a dash home from work to use my doppler. Just before getting home, the baby started kicking. Neither Mr. DD or XBoy have been able to feel anything because of the placenta placement and the movement being felt deep and low. Discovered some bleeding the other day only to realize it was from a hemorrhoid. Good times. Noted 25w6d.

April 30, 2008 – 28w OB appointment. Growth ultrasound scheduled. Failed the one-hour glucose test by 1 point (131) so had to schedule the 3-Hour Glucose Tolerance Test at the hospital. I think I’m up to 160+ pounds, but couldn’t bear to watch for the final tally (at beginning of cycle was around 145). Murdock measures about four days ahead and while I thought that the baby may be a girl at my NT, I’m now thinking she might be a he…or it was the umbilical cord I saw. No good images from the scan because of the gluconate made the baby a big ol’blur on the screen. My OB mentioned that the kidney size was off by about 2mm (can’t remember if he said larger or smaller) and that it happens in about 5-10% of pregnancies, and almost always resolve by the end of the pregnancy. I will have another ultrasound to verify. Weight was guessitmated at 2lbs 11oz. Iron is still low so I have to start taking iron supplements in preparation for delivery.

May 2, 2008 – Glucose Tolerance Test. Arrived at the hospital at 7:00 a.m. and left at 11:00 a.m. and was drawn four seperate times. Basically the whole thing sucked, but I found out on May 5, 2008 that I passed the test. No gestational diabetes!

  • * Symptoms ** – How does one graciously admit they are soo over being pregnant. I gave myself my last pedicure. My maternity pants are now even too small. You would think the size of my thighs would indicate the strenth of Hercules; however I need the assistance of my husband or a nearby piece of sturdy furniture to brace myself on to get back on my feet. While the honeymoon phase of pregnancy is over, I’m grateful I had a way of documenting it here.

May 21, 2008 – 31 week check up. Gained 25 pounds. Fundal height measuring 31 cm. No physician exam because he was called to hospital for emergency c-section.

May 28, 2008 – 32 week. Discussed the carpal tunnel development and scheduled c-section: July 16th. If everything goes alright, I’ll celebrate my 41st Birthday on 7/6 and then Murdock’s on 7/16.

June 11, 2008 – 34 week check. Another growth ultrasound scheduled. Saw baby practicing its swallowing and is currently in a head-down position. Kidneys are measuring at 4 and anything under 10 is good, however OB would like to do another US once Murdock is born. Head measures at over 37 weeks.

** Symptoms ** – Dealing with edema of the hands and feet. Wearing wrist splints has helped a bit at night, but by about 3:00 a.m. I wake with so much pain it’s hard to get back to sleep. My ankles are swollen all the time, even after waking up. I’ve now moved into pitting edema: the tissue does not recoup normally and “dents” easily. A couple of my fingers on the left hand constantly tingle from carpal tunnel. My friends note that while my feet and hands appear to be quite swollen, my face has yet to puff up. To be honest, I’m terribly uncomfortable and these last three weeks cannot go by fast enough. Noted at 35w4d.

June 24, 2008 – 35 week checkup. NST scheduled. Murdock seems to be quite content and experiencing no stress with my braxton contractions, unlike XBoy’s non-stress tests. And while I continue to swell to frightening proportions fluid-wise, my weight is normal; blood pressure is excellent and no protein in the pee. It seems like everything is perfect. It doesn’t help then that I wake at 3:30 a.m. in such pain from the carpal tunnel that I cry. My left hand is of minimum use to me throughout the day. Also, today I recevied a phone call from the hospital scheduling me to come in for consents and pre-registration. I have 22 days left, at the most. NSTs to be performed twice a week until I deliver.

June 27, 2008 – 2nd NST. All looks good.

June 30, 2008 – 3rd NST. Also had a amnio-level check via an ultrasound. The tech exclaimed over how much hair Murdock apparently has. Again, all good.

** Symptoms ** Received confirmation after doing a couple of EMGs with my family practitioner that I have “severe” carpal tunnel in my left hand and “moderate” in the right. For now, a baseline has been established in case it doesn’t go away after the birth. Noticed this past weekend “pregnancy mask” on my lower left jawline. I’m still grateful that do date, no stretch marks or linea negra. Noted 36w7d.

July 3, 2008 – 4th NST. Fine.

July 7, 2008 – 5th NST. Fine.

** Symptoms**  I’m terribly uncomfortable. While I’m hungry, can barely eat without filling up instantly; while tired, can barely sleep. The edema continues at a steady pace and now both hands ache constantly. Exactly one week from today? Murdock should be delivered by c-section sometime in the afternoon. Noted at 37w7d.

July 10, 2008 – Preregister at hospital. Also the 6th NST, which was again, fine.

July 14, 2008 – 7th NST. Fine. Reviewed schedule for c-section, which was to show up by 10:00 am on an empty stomach and depending on surgical cases, I would be in the OR at noon.

July 16, 2008Murdock’s ZGirl’s Birth Day at 12:47 pm. She was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 20.5 inches long.

July 25, 2008 – “Technical” Due Date

  1. […] Calendar of Events: The Day by Day Freaking out of Me […]

  2. i just saw this…i’m so glad you’re keeping it! the pictures are a little slice of heaven. –carole

  3. Damn I’m not good with the pictures – no sensitivity or anything, I just can’t ever make out very much. The u/s pictures of my daughter simply freaked me out as she looked a little too alien (see – I’m very insensitive).
So glad this little one made the graduation to fetus and is still going strong.

  4. I’m excited! And I know people are all pissy and bah hum bug when it comes to belly shots — but if you WANT to take them you can send them via email! They don’t bother me! I swear!

  5. I am excited and look forward to belly shots even though as you know, I am very bitter at the moment and pregnant people are generally to be avoided. Having said that though, you are the one person I am truly and unconditionally happy to read about so I look forward to hearing more!!

  6. As for the 1/4/08 update, I will send you some beans to help you feel bloated again. Finding the heartbeat at this stage can be tricky…I know I had to sometimes lie in very weird positions to find it with Max. Well that or Murphy was just messing with me to see how I would contort. He is an evil bastard that way.

Maybe try again with a full bladder?

  7. Well, looky that!

I hope so much for you, sweetheart.

    Will look forward to more!

  8. Awwww! My eyes didn’t burn out at all! Sending hugs!

  9. I think you look great 🙂

  10. Can we get some more belly shots!?!?!?

  11. This is the first time I have clicked on this. I am very glad I did!

  12. Such a cute pregnant lady! And seriously, I’m diggin’ your current hairstyle.

  13. OK, you’re cute.

  14. Wow! You look so good!!

I’m so happy that things are all going well.

  15. Your belly is soooooo cute. So glad that you show us your wonderful Murdock-belly. HUGS, so so happy for you in general and v glad that there is so “little” drama involved 🙂

  16. Your little belly is coming along very nicely!!! You are totally in the cute pregnant phase now 🙂

  17. Hey- I didn’t know you were posting belly shots! You look great!

  18. PS- its me- clover. I couldn’t get clover as a wordpress account name.

  19. I love, love, love your 20 week 3-d picture. You know you’ve gained more than I did with the last pregnancy but you still look slimmer than I did (by quite a bit). What are you – 6 feet tall or something?
    DinoD

  20. Aw a new picture! I was JUST coming here to pug you to post a recent one. Yay babies!
